KBS 2TV drama 'Descendants of the Sun' has confirmed its export to Japan, hoping that it would re-ignite the dying Korean wave in Japan.

According to media on the 14th, 'Descendants of the Sun' recently signed a contract with Japan. Approximately 100 thousand dollars per episode, and with its 16 episodes, it will be about 2 billion Korean won total.

It is a surprising amount have in mind that the recent exports of Korean dramas to Japan was much less than 100 thousand dollars. Previously, Korean Dramas were easily over 200 thousand dollars per episode, but the price has gone down after criticism stating that 'it's not worth it'.

The successful export of 'Descendants of the Sun' to Japan will also have a positive effect on other following dramas. Especially, the new SBS drama "The Royal Gambler", with Jang Keun-suk as a main character who is also very popular in Japan, is highly anticipated.

Additionally, tvN dramas or other dramas with great topic of interest or with cinematic value could also enter the Japanese market.
