11th Seoul Int'l Youth Film Festival

The 11th edition of the Seoul International Youth Film Festival (SIYFF) is to kick off this July 9 for a one week run. The fest stands out in that both the participants and reporters covering the event include children. Its line-up this year boasts a 124 films from 33 countries.
Fest opener is I Know You Know, a UK film about a young boy who suspects his father is an MI6 secret agent, which screened at the Berlinale earlier this year. Program highlights include a Korean Coming-of-Age Cinema retrospective which will screen Yang Ik-june's award-winning feature debut "Breathless".
The 'It's OK to be Different' section, will screen YI Seung-jun's documentary "Children of God" which looks at the lives of children around a cremation site in Nepal. The film won the Best Documentary Award at the 2008 Korea-Japan-China Broadcasting Producers Forum.
Another highlight is the retrospective on Korean teen movies of the 70s. Memorable hits in the teen film boom will be screened such as "Prankster of Girl's High School" (1977) and "Our High School Days" (1978). Film by the pioneering directors of the teen trend such as MUN Yeo-song, SEOK Rae-myeong and KIM Eung-chun will fill out the program.
