A seminar to be held to improve independent production quota policy in order to facilitate broadcasting content industry

KOCCA to host a seminar at KBI building, Mok-dong on Sept. 29
Win-Win strategy for broadcasting networks and independent production companies to be discussed to cope with changes occurred due to independent production quota policy

A venue is set to be made to provide a win-win solution for both broadcasting networks and independent production companies. Those companies have found it difficult to secure production fund since introduction of regulation on independent production quota.

Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister: Yu In-chon) and organized by Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA. President & CEO: Lee Jae-woong), 'Seminar on Improvement Measures for Independent Production to Facilitate Broadcasting Content, a New Growth Engine' is held on Sept. 29 on 3F of Korean Broadcasting Institute(KBI), Mok-dong, 2 p.m.

The seminar will become a place to discuss intensively guide lines on independent production to ensure fair deals on independent production to be reached in the broadcasting industry, standard production costs, independent production approval system, distribution of copyright, and examples of foreign countries.

At the seminar emceed by professor Han Jin-man of Dept. of journalism and broadcasting of Kangwon Univ. Choi Jin-hoon from Division on Copyright of MBC will deliver presentation on high ratio of independent production, preferential asymmetric regulations, production of broadcasting content driven by broadcasting networks, and strategies for globalization.

Representative Park Chang-sik of Kim Jong Hak Production will present independent production approval system designed to improve independent production and ways on how to better distribute copyrights. Following this, professor Kim Jae-young of Dept. of Communication and Information of Chungnam National Univ. will point out the current situation where evasion of relevant laws and resorting to expediency are commonly committed in the independent production market. And then he will suggest a win-win solution for both broadcasting networks and independent production companies.

Those who will participate in the discussion are Lee Kang-hyun, senior PD of KBS Drama, Joo Young-ho, researcher at SBS Policy Team, Kim Seung-soo, Secretary General of Corea Drama Production Association, Lee Chang-soo, representative of Paan Media Holdings, Professor Lee Jung Hoon of Dept. of Mass Media and Communication of Daejin Univ. and Lee Man-je, senior manager at KOCCA.
