Actress Shim Eun-kyung Goes to the Dark Side in Her Latest Film

In a departure from her previous cinematic roles, which were mostly lovable and comic characters, actress Shim Eun-kyung took on a somewhat dark -- some might even say hideous -- part for her latest film, "Missing You - 2016", which hit theaters on Thursday.

"It often takes me a long time to select a new project", Sim said. "This time I was anxious about whether my performance was good enough. I think I still have a lot to learn about acting".

The film is about a girl who waits 15 years for her father's killer to be released from prison, in order to take her own revenge.

"When I was first offered the role, I couldn't relate to it. It was really hard for me to portray this very complicated character who is an innocent girl, but who is also capable of cruelty, because she is driven to take vengeance against her father's murderer", she said.

"Ever since I received all that acclaim for the hit film 'Miss Granny', I've just wanted more, simplistically equating prolific cinematic appearances with being a successful actress. But now I want another chance to feel the excitement I felt when I first started acting".
