"Detective K"'s scores multiple deals at Berlin's film market

South Korean comedy-mystery film "Detective K" is generating good business in North America, Europe and Asia.

Showbox, the film's international distributor confirmed that the Kim Seok-yoon - helmed movie closed multiple deals after its market debut at the European Film Market held alongside the Berlin International Film Festival in February this year.Distribution rights have been sold to Germany, which include the movie's release in German-speaking Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Negotiations are underway for other European countries.

The hit movie that tells about the adventures of Korea's version of Sherlock Holmes has also been sold to Taiwan, China and Thailand.

"Detective K"'s international screening kicked off on March 4 in Los Angeles. Screenings in other North American cities including Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, Atlanta, and Vancouver followed in March 11. The movie will have a limited release in Sydney (Australia) on March 17.

Showbox is optimistic that "Detective K" will continue to ink deals at its next film market - the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (Filmart) that takes place in March 21-24.
