Fear of past indelible scars

By Janet Shin

How far can saju tell one's destiny? How deep does it dig out one's life?

Trauma, according to the dictionary, is an experience that produces psychological injury or pain. It is usually hard to stand the pain of trauma and it may continue throughout one's life. For example, an experience, such as a car accident in one's childhood can make it hard to drive even after reaching adulthood. Those who experienced strangulation are afraid of wearing a neck tie. Even without specific symptoms, the physical or psychological wounds frequently shed shadows across one's life, in the forms of mental instability and insomnia, and so on.

I often see that saju discloses veiled agonizing recollections. It is sometimes a shocking moment to make one flinch and reticent for a moment. Since saju is to tell the truth of life, the past pains are naturally exposed and it should eventually heal the wound so that one can get over it after a reading. But it is not closure for all.

Here is the saju of a woman, who closed her mind in the middle of the saju reading.

She was born in 1962, the year of tiger and in September, the month of the monkey. She said her parents do not recall her exact birth time. The year 1962 represents yang wood and the month is yang metal, respectively, in terms of the five elements classification. The yang metal and wood clash with each other as if we were chopping the wood with an ax. On top of that there is fire in her day branch, which melts the yang metal of her month branch. Consequently all three branches of her saju clash and negate themselves.

Of all the branch relations, these are the most active and severe ones, causing devastating incidents in one's life. In order to compensate for this misfortune, one has to be in a tough occupation, such as a police officer dealing with violent crimes or an emergency-room doctor. Otherwise, some are truck drivers or travelers who are away from home for most of their life. Others are even imprisoned in the worst case scenario. Another way to overcome the adverse fate is to be strong and tenacious enough to straighten out destiny by becoming the master of it. It is not easy but in this case, the person may achieve enormous success over adversity.

Going back to the woman's saju, being born with the energy of yin wood day master, she can be represented by flowers. Yin wood day master may be seen as beautiful and delicate in its character. Then when the born month is metal, the yin wood day master is easily hurt. She could never be a police officer or a doctor. She was not forceful enough to leap over the hurdles in her life. At a glance, I could see that her past torment left ineffaceable scars that she was not ready to confront. However, in order to heal, her past needs to be unveiled and from that moment on, she would be able to find a way to exploit her own confident life.

Unfortunately, her fear didn't let her reach the truth. She escaped from the moment of realization because it was too painful to tell or be told her past.

Later on, her friend visited me to explain what happened to her. Having been abused by her husband and with her daughter being sick for a long time, she became depressed and now she doesn't want to be agitated by talking of her distress. We may have to wait until time heals her. But it is needless to say that she must have courage to face the truth.
