[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Lookout"

2017/11/04 | | Permalink

Hell hath no fury like a grieving revenge drama lead and "Lookout" takes this fury very seriously. Revenge is a team effort this time around, as the series unites several characters into one group after one very evil man and his equally disturbing hellspawn. A mysterious hidden leader and a heroine with a goal fight against these forces while trying to maintain their own humanity...More

[HanCinema's BIFF Film Review] A relationship on stage becomes something much more in "Method"

2017/11/04 | | Permalink

Bang Eun-jin's "Method" is an exploration of the investment of emotion and self into art and a potent one at that. Screened at the 22nd Busan International Film Festival from October 12th to the 21st, the eighty-two minute film just released in theaters November 2nd. The intense emotional journey of seasoned method actor Jae-ha (Park Sung-woong) and reluctant idol actor Young-woo (Oh Seung-hoon) is riveting and unhinged. Yoon Seung-ah's Hee-won is what tethers the characters and the story to reality - but only just barely...More

Joo-bong (played by Lee Dong-whi) has to make a construction plan work for his company. Together, they...fight in the car in the name and apparently run down a mysterious senile woman played by Lee Honey...More

[HanCinema's Film Review] "Man of Will"

2017/11/04 | | Permalink

The real Kim Chang-soo, better known as Kim Koo, was a Korean resistance fighter against the Japanese Occupation. His history in the first half of the twentieth century in Korea is a long one that ends with his assassination in 1949 for being credible and well-liked in a time when popular leaders were murdered to insure the unpopular ones could maintain power. But none of that is relevant to "Man of Will", which focuses on the life of a twenty year old Chang-soo (played by Cho Jin-woong) surviving in a prison run by the evil wealthy collaborator Hyeong-sik (played by Song Seung-heon)...More

[HanCinema's Film Review] "Tarbosaurus 3D"

2017/11/04 | | Permalink

The lead character of "Tarbosaurus 3D" is a young tarbosaurus named Speckles. While Speckles has a voiceover (Lee Yeong-seok as a child, Shin Yong-woo as an adult), none of the other dinosaurs have human voices or even names. With this, "Tarbosaurus 3D" is refreshingly free from anthropomorphization more obnoxious children's movies are more well known for. We watch Speckles from the dinosaur's point of view...More
