South Korea, Pyeongchang specifically, will host the Winter Games next year, and the New York Times has this exciting article about how the country is no longer a "skiing afterthought". The Games will be "only the third time the Winter Games will be held in Asia, and the first time outside Japan", and, as Justin Bergman notes, the event will be a "big moment" for the country and important source of national pride.
