[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Make a Woman Cry" Episode 40 Final

Almost the entire dramatic thrust of this episode is on the resolution of the relationship between Deok-in and Yoon-seo. And you know, it's really cheating to just have that relationship improve over the course of a timeskip. We never actually got to see these two get closer, so why is this resolution supposed to have any serious impact? Why did all the interesting material get shunted into a part of the story that we never actually got to see?

Pretty much every other part of the epilogue is the exact same thing. The drama is resolving subplots and conflicts that were given such cursory exposition that I could barely even remember they existed. What I did notice was that there's all sorts of imagery that's completely new. I'm not sure we've ever actually seen Yoon-seo at the rich family residence, so it's especially weird that this is where his big speech takes place.

Actually I'm not sure Yoon-seo has ever had any screentime anywhere with any blood relation except for his father. A shot where he's smiling with Min-seo and Hyeon-seo is especially weird, because even though these characters are cousins, and have theme naming which implies that they have some sort of close relationship...never mind appearing together I'm struggling to think of any time Min-seo has even appeared on screen at all.

So what happened with Eun-soo, the one character who has been given disproportionate exposition this time, at the expense of everyone else? Well, she found a room of her own and is now living happily with a hobby that doesn't involve pestering her in-laws. That much is nice, I guess, but again, if "Make a Woman Cry" wanted to rehabilitate Eun-soo's character, it really should have put more focus into the actual redemption part of the story rather than just glossing it over in timeskip.

I feel like I've slipped into an alternate universe where the story and focus of "Make a Woman Cry" ended up going in a completely different direction than what we actually saw up until this point. There's nothing especially wrong with this episode, but I couldn't stop thinking throughout about how little any of it had to do with the drama's real plot as of late. A story about redemption and moving on from loss? That's great! I would have liked to see that story! But that's not what "Make a Woman Cry" has been for pretty much the entire second half.
