[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Man to Man" Episode 6

Emotions become tied to work for ghost agent Seol-woo and it's a first. It is a dangerous time to marry work and feelings with ruthless, ambition-driven politicians snapping at his organization's heels. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

Despite Seol-woo's best efforts, he is actually enjoying wooing and winning over Do-ha who is absolutely smitten with the dashing Guard Kim. The usual romanctic goodness is shown on screen: sweet text messages, cooing over each other just before bed, stealing moments together. It is extra poignant because Seol-woo is enjoying it despite the fact that he denies it. What makes the romance sweeter is that Woon-gwang, her "oppa", is protective and supportive of Do-ha's romance. He even teases Do-ha about kissing Seol-woo, which was precious. They have a special relationship that is much like blood siblings. His love of both Do-ha and his new "brother" Seol-woo is part of what makes the main core of characters so easily relatable.

As for the bad guys, they are underdeveloped, singularly-motivated, and boring. Seung-jae just wants power and has little to his character besides his ambition for power and jealousy of Mi-eun's feelings for Woon-gwang. I'd love to see him fleshed out. I don't need to like him, but I do need to be able to relate to him. Agent Jang and Lawyer Lee are much more interesting because we see how they think and feel and work. Viewers are people who relate best when there are visible similarities. Congressman Baek is pure evil and interesting only because he's always chasing after his goals. I'd also like a little depth to him, but I have a feeling that is not really going to happen.

I'm glad the ending of this episode hinted at more action because that is where "Man to Man" is strongest save for the romance and bromance. I could leave everything else at this point, to be honest. Let's move on to the action promised in episode 7!
