[HanCinema's Korea Joa] Lisa's Diary - Lucy Hair Salon

One thing I love about these diary pieces is that I can tell you, HanCinema readers, about my adventures in Korea and bring you along with me no matter how big or small my adventure may or may not have been. One thing I particularly loved about the Korea Joa 2015 program was that I not only met dedicated colleagues of Korean entertainment, but I also made friends. There is nothing quite like sharing good times with a good friend.

On the first day of the Korea Joa 2015, September 30, 2015, I made plans to meet up with Jenny, an editor from Soompi, and I was quite excited about to meet her and set out to explore Seoul.

I woke up early to catch the subway from Suwon to Seoul because we had decided to do something every girl wants to do in Seoul: get our hair done. (I know you thought I would say find a handsome Korean boyfriend, but that dream is for another article.) I digress. So I get on the subway with my two suitcases and I realize I'm going the wrong way. This is the eternal problem of travelers: acclimating to the transportation systems that differ from country to country and city. With two suitcases, however, getting on the wrong line makes for some technical difficulties. All the while I'm texting with the kindly and understanding Jenny who waits patiently for me in Seoul. (Thank you, Jenny!)

This is where I must point out that learning basic Korean before going to Korea is very, very helpful because many of the people I met did not speak very good English. With the help of my halting Korean and helpful passengers on the subway, I made it to Gangnam Station where I finally met Jenny. As though we had known each other our entire lives, we chatted and made our way to our final destination: Lucy Hair. This salon is known for its stylists who speak English as well as creating the most stylish of coiffures.

The salon is on the second floor of the T-World world building. It is small, but clean, and the staff is very friendly. Our bags were placed in lockers and we were greeted by our stylists. Mine was the effervescent Dennis Jang who was patient with me as we conversed in a flurry of Korean and English. I told him to style my hair as he wished and I let him run free. I paid 25,000 won (about $22) for my waved style, a very reasonable price. Both Jenny and I were pleased with our tresses and if you would like to check Lucy Hair out you can message them directly on their website for directions. Or, you take line 2 to Sinchon Station Exit 1. Walk straight ahead until you reach Natuur Ice Cream shop and turn right. About half a block down there is T-World building and Lucy Hair is just up a flight of stairs.

Near the salon is Ewha Womans University and many shops that cater to the young and hip. There are interesting sites to behold as well as random pianos on the sidewalk just asking to be played. Jenny and I took a gander and indulged in some selfie taking. When you visit, be sure to take a stroll around the area, preferably with a friend!
