Jang Hyuk Talks About His Affinity for Melodramas

"Innocent Thing" tells the chilling story of a married man in his 30s and his dalliance with a high school girl who develops a crush on him. Jang Hyuk, who is in his late 30s, plays a 30-something gym teacher in the suspenseful melodrama.

Viewers are not used to seeing Jang in melodramas. But the actor said he feels more comfortable with scenes that require emotional depth than with simple action shots where he has to express emotions through his body movements. Of the 29 movies that make up his filmography, only three are action flicks.

"I debuted when I was 20 and I'll turn 40 soon. I've been on one set or another for nearly half of my life. It excited me during my 20s and I feel the same way now", said Jang.

Asked on his thoughts about marriage, he said, "I don't think people should rush into it. I encourage them to tie the knot whenever they want to. It's not something you should do just because you reach a certain age. I think you can be happy if you wait, too".

"If I were not happy [with my own married life], I would be in trouble. One of the main reasons I want to be a good person is because of my family", he added.
