Jang Nara Wins Chinese Golden Disc Award

Singer/actress Jang Nara won the Most Popular Artist Award in the "mainland China" category at the 2nd Chinese Golden Disc Awards, which was held yesterday in Beijing, China under the auspices of the Chinese Music Council.

The most popular artists of the year were selected by the combination of a jury and the votes of 10,000 people as well as online polls conducted by five Chinese portal websites.

Jang, who debuted in China in September of last year, released her first album targeting Chinese audiences in January of this year, selling 1.2 million copies. Her songs "Chuan Su Jie Sha Wi" (全世界下雨) and "Tienmimi" (甛蜜蜜), which she recorded in Chinese, gained enormous popularity, earning her the honorable title of "socheonhu" (小天后).

Jang has also been nominated for the most popular Asian artist in the female artist category for the Asia-Pacific Music Awards slated for July 3 in Beijing.

The most popular artist award for the Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao region went to Nicholas Tse (謝霆鋒).
