It all started with a free messaging service in 2010 and was followed by the introduction of mobile games in July.
The games, such as the wildly popular Anipang, now bring KaKao a monthly profit over 40-million U.S. dollars.
And from early next year, the company plans to launch a mobile content shop called 'KaKao Page'.
Under the new service, users can publish and sell their songs, music videos and electronic books to other users, and 50-percent of the sales go to the content creator.

As KaKao continues to make waves, portal websites are responding with their own strategies.
Korea's largest portal Naver, has released mobile games through its own messaging service Line, to its 76-million users.
It has also inked an agreement with mobile carrier SK Telecom to come up with new services.
