Korea Ranks No. 1 in Internet Access and Website Making

Korea, with its super-fast Internet speeds, is the most wired country in the world.
You'll find Koreans browsing news, playing smartphone games and doing online shopping anywhere.
The Internet Economy Outlook 2012 report released by the OECD on Friday showed, not only did Korea have the highest internet access but also had the most experience in producing online websites.
Just in four yearsthe number of Koreans making websites has doubled.
Like 27-year old Oh-hoon. Every day, he goes to a coffee shop with his laptop, sits down, opens his own website to check and update what is needed.

[Interview : Oh Hoon, Website Owner] "I've been running the site for four years now. And because I'm doing it in a wired countrythe connection is so fast that the information gets out real quick and lots of people find out soon as possibleI'm benefiting a lot from the wired country".

[Reporter : Ji Myung-kil mkji@arirang.co.kr] "According to the OECD report - Korea had the highest internet access rate at 100-percent followed by Britain at 80 percent and the United States at the OECD average rate of 70-percent".

The data goes on to show people in Finland, Iceland and Luxembourg spent the most time using the internet to learn things.
However, using the internet for educational purposes was not high on Koreans' agenda with the country ranking a lowly 17th out of 28 nations.
Rather Korea ranked number one for playing internet games, listening to online music and watching movies via the internet.
Around 50 percent of Korean households own a computer and have broadband internet access.
