Set during the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945), Jeon Chang-keun is chased by colonial police and shot. He is saved by Hwang Ryeo-hui, a nurse, who helps him hide. They fall in love, but Jeon refrains from devoting himself as he has to fight against the Japanese colonialists. Although they resist the Japanese, they die just before the nation is liberated from Japan in August 1945.
