Lotte Cinema Holds Rerun of Grand Bell Awards Winners

Winners of the main prizes at this year's Grand Bell Awards were screened again in cinemas from June 18. Lotte Cinema presented reruns of top-prize winner "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family") along with other awardees: "The Host", "Radio Star" and "200 Pounds Beauty".

These films were screened in Lotte Cinemas throughout the country. Entrance fee for the films that are part of the Grand Bell Award Winners rerun were set at KRW 4 000, and KRW 8 000 for screenings in a more up-scale screening room called Prestige Room.

Contrary to the other three titles, Grand Bell Best Film and Best Screenplay winner "Family Ties" ("The Birth of a Family") had only a limited release and was not seen by many Koreans. Lotte Cinema's initiative is a well-deserved re-introduction of this acclaimed film which has been selected for international film festivals and picked up a Best Film Award in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The Host brought Bong Joon-ho the Grand Bell Best Director Award in addition to the already impressive list of prizes and achievements of the film. Best Actor (Ahn Sung-ki) winning "Radio Star" centers around friendship and was director Lee Joon-ik's successful follow-up to "The King and the Clown". "200 Pounds Beauty"' Kim Ah-joong was awarded the Best Actress Award. The comedy involving radical cosmetic surgery turned KIM into a pan-Asian star.
