Man in his 40s sentenced to one year for defamation and blackmailing against Lee Hanee

A preacher in his 40s has been sentenced to one year in prison. He twitted defamatory and blackmailing posts 290 times, saying there was no way for him to approach her, while he was fond of her.

On June 9th, Seoul Central District Court said A, 47, was sentenced to one year in prison for violation of Privacy Protection Issues in terms of defamation as well as insult and blackmailing.

According to the court, he twitted defamatory posts 233 times including the content with sexual slander from February 19, 2013 to June, 2013. He also posted blackmailing content 23 times and insulting comments 34 times.

The man, a preacher, admitted he liked Lee Hanee since 2006 and became obsessed with her after he watched her performance in 2009. He said he was frustrated with the reality there would be no way for him to approach her and he posted the false contents and blackmailed her through SNS.
