New Daily Morning Drama 'Love and Obsession' Begins

KBS2 began airing the new drama "Love and Obsession" from April 20 after it held a ceremony to announce its production on April 17.

Inspired by the true story of a daughter-in-law who abandoned her dementia-stricken mother-in-law on the street, the drama depicts love and hatred in a family centering around a woman (Janghwa) who abandons her mother-in-law and another woman (Hongryeon) who takes care of the abandoned mother-in-law.

Actress Yoon Hae-young plays Hongryeon, a good-natured, cheerful single mother, and Kim Se-ah plays Janghwa, who seduces Hongryeon's lover and coerces him to marry her, and who is not satisfied what she owns despite her

Yoon said, "Hongryeon is very similar to me. I, too, have positive attitude toward life like her". Fellow actor Choi Jae-won agreed, saying that she seems to feel very comfortable playing the role. The actress added, "Although it is a family drama dealing with the importance of family and overcoming difficulties in life, it is very entertaining, as its story unfolds rather intensely".

Kim, who made a comeback after a 2 and-a-half year hiatus, said that it was not an easy decision to take the evil role to come back, but she liked the realism of the story.

With regard to concerns that it deals with an extreme subject matter, the drama's producer said, "It is based on a true story, so it's not just an extreme case that can't happen in real life. And what we want to talk about through the drama is the universal values we should not lose, like respect for the elderly and love between family members".

Veteran actress Yeo Woon-kye is cast as the mother-in-law with dementia, and actor Jang Hyun-sung as Janghwa's husband. Comedian Kim Jin-soo and comedienne Ahn Sun-young also appear in order to lend humor to the drama. Actress Choi Na-rae, a daughter of actor Choi Jong-won, makes her debut in the drama.

The drama is aired every weekday morning at 9:00 a.m.
