[Orion's Daily Ramblings] First Teasers for "The Most Beautiful Goodbye"

The goodbye no one is ever quite ready for gets beautiful and heartbreaking first teasers for the short drama remake, "The Most Beautiful Goodbye". The 4-episode series is based on a Noh Hee-kyeong original work about a mother with terminal cancer preparing for the titular goodbye to her family. The story has previously been adapted for television and film.

Parent and child stories hold a special place in my heart and while I know that the series will be a painful watch, I feel very good about it in light of these first promotional videos. Technically, they are well made and beautiful. They focus on the characters we will be meeting and they let their skilled actresses, Won Mi-kyung and Choi Ji-woo, do their work.

Words are not always necessary when there are other tools at one's disposal and some of the strongest ideas and feelings can never be done justice by speech alone. What really gets me on an emotional level is the teaser for Choi Ji-woo's Yeon-soo. It's so very subtle, but it makes its point clear. A mother calls out to her daughter, but the mother is no longer there.

As someone with great love for and attachment to her mother, I am very much not prepared for what this series will make me feel, but sometimes the feelings we may not handle gracefully are precisely the ones we need. The drama will premiere on December 9th and I will be following it closely.
