[Orion's Drama News] Conmen, Bodyguards and Love Triangles

This week I share news about the expanding cast of "The Legend of the Blue Sea" and lament its lack of mermen. JTBC maybe-bromance drama about a hallyu star and his bodyguard now has its main creator duo and I am a bit torn, but mostly hopeful. "Don't Dare to Dream" piles on the love triangles and said jealousy, which will surely create one big and hopefully entertaining romantic mayhem. Let us take a look at Dramaland's past week.

Casting Spree for "The Legend of the Blue Sea"

There has not been a lot out for the series, but this week delivers. Lee Ji-hoon, Park Hae-soo and Na Young-hee will be joining, along with Sung Dong-il as a possibility. Shin Won-ho of "Big" has also joined and will thankfully be awake this time. Lee Min-ho will be playing a double role and sadly not a merman, which means we will not get to use the "merminho" hashtag. The series has begun filming and will be with us in November.

"Man to Man" Gets More Men

The drama has finally made progress and is now helmed by PD Lee Chang-min-I. He has some impressive credits to his name, a cable channel as a home and pre-production as a method, so things look good. I am less than thrilled about Kim Won-seok-II, given the poor writing of "Descendants of the Sun", but that was clearly more of a Kim Eun-sook piece. Additionally, Hallyu-bait dramas like it are often where storytelling goes to die, so I am cautiously optimistic.

"Don't Dare to Dream" and Its Love Triangles

Love triangles are a love or hate concept for drama fans, but "Don't Dare to Dream" seems quite pleased with its use of them. The second teaser does not give us much about the story, but it does flaunt its pairings. The drama was reported as a realistic comedy, but given dramas cannot handle realism or comedy very well, I would keep those expectations low. The series also has its posters out and we get more information on Seo Ji-hye's character.

Upcoming Drama Goodies

Weekend dramas "Blow Breeze", "My Gap-soon" and "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop" get new material this week. There are teasers out for the first and second ones while the third has a trailer and stills. The second teaser for "Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo" focuses on lightness and romance and "Love in the Moonlight" teases political intrigue and love triangles. A piece is out on Kim Jung-nan's character in "Fantastic" and the drama has new teasers and posters. "Woman with a Suitcase" has held its script reading and so has "The K2". The latter has a video of it as well.

Followed Dramas

"Wanted" has ended and I am quite impressed by this first drama of writer Han Ji-wan-I. I will definitely look forward to his next work and my spoiler-free series review for this one will be out soon. I also finished "Squad 38" and I have reviewed that for today. Now I am left with the delectable "The Good Wife" and plenty of upcoming dramas to choose from.
