[Orion's Drama News] Orion Rambles

This week is Chuseok week in Korea, which means news on dramas have been scarce. This leaves me and these pieces hanging, but what could be perceived as a hindrance can also be seen as an opportunity. For someone who loves rambling as much as yours truly, this is a chance to share my thoughts on the two upcoming dramas I will cover and some interesting upcoming titles I just found out about. So if you need more reasons to hate me, welcome to my ramblings!

"The K2": Viewer vs. Reviewer

I do not have a very loving relationship with writer Jang Hyeok-rin of "The K2", as you can see in my preview piece. I watched and reviewed "Reset" and "Yong Pal", the first of which I found lacking and the second of which I found dismally messy. As a reviewer who considers things through logic, or at least my personal version of it, I worry a lot about "The K2". And then I see cool teasers (though not so cool posters) and very intriguing women's characters. I get excited, I chastise myself for it and I repeat. At the end of the day, I reach a healthy middle ground of being wary and still hoping for the best.

Shopping King Loses Shopping Ability

I find myself battling the same viewer vs. reviewer dilemma with "Shopping King Louis", the preview of which is also out. Everything looks cute and I want to believe I will finally see a romantic comedy without people dying, getting cancer, Alzheimer's, being hit by trucks of doom, murdered or suffering other melodrama-pushing outcomes. With a dated premise, the chance that viewers will not warm up to it and therefore push it to desperate measures such as the aforementioned ones is higher. And yet, look at these posters and look at the videos. How adorable are they? Once again, I choose hope.

Greeting New Dramas

As you may know, if you follow my work or social channels, I do love good women's characters in fiction. Often lacking in this aspect, Korean drama has been changing at a rapid pace during the last few years and so shows like upcoming "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon" are becoming more common. At the same time we see more male writers and different genres as well. I have a love-hate relationship with Park Jae-beom-I after "Blood", but "Chief Kim" definitely sounds promising.

Followed Dramas

Suffering from a case of I-have-no-idea-but-my-entire-leg-is-hurting-like-mad means lying down and watching things is kind of the only option lately. I have gone through four episodes of "Fantastic" and my first look piece for it will be out tomorrow. I have not read William's reviews, as I like to keep my thoughts as focused and untainted as possible. With two new shows I will be covering starting this week, my drama break is over and I am excited to be back!
