Paju to compete at Tribeca

Park Chan-ok's highly rated second feature "Paju" has been invited to the world narrative competition section of the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival in New York, running April 21 to May 1. Another Korean feature, Ounie Lecomte's "A Brand New Life", will screen in the non-competitive showcase section.

"Paju" won the NETPAC award at its world premiere at the Pusan Int'l Film Festival last October. Starring Lee Sun-kyun ("Sa-Kwa"), Seo Woo ("Crush and Blush"), Shim Yi-young, and Kim Bo-kyung, it is an atmospheric tale of a schoolgirl's (SEO) complicated relationship with her sister's husband (LEE). When her sister dies mysteriously, she suspects him of murder and complex emotions arise between them.

PARK made her debut in 2003 with "Jealousy Is My Middle Name", winning Rotterdam's Tiger award for best film. Paju, which earlier this year opened the Rotterdam fest, will compete among 12 features vying for Tribeca's top honor. A total of 85 films will screen at Tribeca, selected from among 5,055 submissions.
