Seo In-guk gets exempted from NS for osteochondritis

Singer and actor Seo In-guk was exempted from National Service as he was given a grade 5 in physical examination. He has osteochondritis.

Osteochondritis means the bone under the cartilage has necroses and part of the cartilage is gone.

According to sources, the most common cause of this is injury such as a sprain in the ankles during exercise.

Major symptoms include swelling, pain and a sound in the joints that usually occurs when one walks up and down a flight of stairs and feels pain without much movement. Sometimes the symptoms may seem fine but they will come back.

About 70% of young men in their 10s to 30s tend to have osteochondritis and soccer player Park Joo-yeong and baseball player Kim Jin-woo are known to have this.
