SYNOPSIS

This is a true account of what took place inside a school for the deaf in South Korea, where the principal and some teachers repeatedly sexually molested and abused several hearing impaired children. The film is ultimately an indictment of society as a whole, shining a light on the dehumanization of the disabled, and the inadequate protections of justice for society's most vulnerable members.

Kang In-Ho (Gong Yoo) is a newly appointed teacher at a school for the hearing-impaired in Mujin city. On the first day, In-Ho meets the school's principal and director of administration; They are identical twins. Facing various financial pressures, he pays his way into landing a job at the school by bribing the principal and his twin brother.

While teaching the hearing-impaired students, In-Ho feels a strange presence as the kids seem to be distraught and paranoid which is shown in their behavior. Slowly, In-Ho begins to uncover the truth behind this strange behavior as the kids are constantly abused and mistreated by some of the faculty members. In-Ho reaches out to Yoo-Jin, a lady from the human rights center who he had met before beginning work to help investigate. Soon, In-Ho and Yoo-Jin discover unfathomable actions committed by some of the school's faculty members and led by the principal. Both In-Ho and Yoo-Jin begin the fight in exposing the horrible crimes of said faculty members and take matters to court. Meanwhile, In-Ho feels his own pressures to stay silent as his job is hanging by a thin thread of bribery.
