SM Entertainment Sets Up Asian HQ in Hong Kong

SM Entertainment, the agency behind leading K-pop stars such as Boa, TVXQ and SuperJunior, will set up its Asian headquarters in Hong Kong, Yonhap News Agency said.
SM Entertainment said Hong Kong will serve as a platform for the company as it looks to expand its business in the 1.4 billion-strong China market.
"SM Asia, along with SM Japan and SM China, will become the center of the company's plan to maintain Hallyu or popularity of Korean pop culture in China and Southeast Asia as well as producing cultural contents more suitable to the region", according to the news report.
The talent agency, set up by former singer Lee Soo-man, is also conducting a talent search in 11 cities in North America---Altanta, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Orange County, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C., Toronto and Vancouver from Sept. 6 through Oct. 6.
They will be looking for dancer, singer, actors, models, producer and composers of Asian origin. Their next scouting destination is Thailand, scheduled for Sept. 16.
