Week's New Movie Premieres

Time for a check of movies opening this week.
Among the Korean releases are a sequel to a comedy about some tough grandmas and the restored animated classic Taekwon V.
There's also a musical comedy and an animated feature from Hollywood.
Here's Son Heekyung.

The comedy "Mapado 2" is the sequel to the 2005 hit movie about a group of eccentric grandmothers who are the sole residents of a strange island called Mapado.
The original attracted more than three million moviegoers in Korea.
Actor Lee Moon-sik plays a former detective whose secret mission is to track down the first love of a businessman from a big company.

People in their 30s and 40s probably remember the animated action classic "Robot Taekwon V" from their younger days.
The movie is about a heroic robot who uses the Korean martial art taekwondo to maintain peace in the world.
Many remember his trademark move of flying high in the sky, and fighting evil.
Taekwon V wears the helmet of the legendary Korean Admiral Yi Sunshin who repelled a Japanese sea invasion in 1592.
The print had been feared lost, but was rediscovered and restored over two years by the Korean Film Council.
One million US dollars went into the restoration.

The hit Broadway musical "Rent" is now a major motion picture.
The film's storyline is similar to that of the original musical.
Eight friends in New York City struggle with relationships, loss, love - the meaning of life and AIDS over the course of one year.

Another Hollywood animated feature called "Barnyard".
Guess what animals do when a farmer's away - They sing, dance and play.
A carefree cow eventually steps in to take control of these animals.
