'Assembly' to Open Pusan Film Fest

The 12th Pusan International Film Festival scheduled from Oct. 4 to 12 has selected its opening and closing films. PIFF will open with the world premiere of Chinese director Feng Xuaogang's new movie "Assembly". Co-produced by China's Huay Brothers and Korea's MK Pictures, "Assembly" is a drama about a man who devotes his life to restoring the honor of a comrade who disappeared during the war. Feng is one of China's most successful directors and gained worldwide recognition with "The Banquet" and "A Sigh".

The international premiere of the Japanese animation "Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone" by Hideaki Anno, Kazuya Tsurumaki and Masayuki will close the festival in the southern port city also spelled Busan. The animation is a new theatre adaptation of TV animation ""Neon Genesis Evangelion", which has been enjoying stable popularity with fans in Japan and Asia-wide since 1995. "Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone" is the first of three films Anno has planned and is released in Japan on Sept. 1.
