A look into university life through "Cheese In The Trap"

"Cheese in the Trap" starring Yoo Jeong (Park Hae-jin) who has a dangerous instinct behind his gentle smile and Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) who is the only one who can see through him, is a campus drama that shows university life in detail. It's more realistic than "Non-Stop" and is closer to what being a university student is like in Korean compared to what our parents tell us. There are 6 ways one can have a successful campus life and this is recommended to those who start a new semester this coming March.

- Necessary Requirement: Making friends, not an option

Everyone dreams of blind dates and becoming 'campus couple', especially pre-university goers. However, once you get into university, you will understand that "Romance" is not as easy as you thought. So it's recommended that you make a friend like Bo-ra (Park Min-ji), a friend who wakes you up when you oversleep and a friend who listens to your problems. This kind of friend lends you money when you need it and when you think about taking a break from school, he or she convinces you not to. This kind of friend is better than any boyfriend or girlfriend. A friend you can connect to deeply makes your school life more fulfilling.

- Basic Requirement: Let's not forget to log out!

Unlike high school, universities have computers everywhere. If you don't have a laptop or a smart phone, there are various ways you can log in online in a university. Hong Seol used the library computer to log into the school system and check on her timetable. However, she forgot one important think because of Hae-jin and that is to log out. Kim Sang-cheol (Moon Ji-yoon) only touched her timetable slightly but if he wanted to, he could've done something meaner to her. Not logging out is like leaving your safe open for everyone's access.

- Optional Requirement: Don't black out at a drinking party

Orientation parties, club parties and drinks with seniors and juniors are bound to happen in university. It's great if you know how to enjoy such 'parties' but you need to know your drinking limits. Drinking like a truck without brakes is bound to make you a pain in the neck. You might be the only one who can't remember what happened the last night. Everyone watched you be drunk and sloppy. Hong Seol did just that and passed out on the floor while pointing her finger at Yoo Jeong. She even threw up in front of Yoo Jeong and Baek In-ho. Still, she's still attending the school because she's the leading actress in this drama. If this was reality, she would be remembered for generations as 'the drunk'. She'll be teased and mocked her whole campus life and evidence of the night's nightmare would be left on smart phones and cameras. This painful memory might even be handed down to your younger generations.

- Necessary tips for majors: 'Crapshoot' team projects

'Crapshoot' team projects are something you have to deal with for an entire semester. Hong Seol became a team with people who don't help her at all and this is the worst thing you can get yourself into. In that case, there are four things you can do. First, just do it all by yourself and accept the fact that it's your fate. Second, convince your team members to help you out. Third, get rid of team members who don't help you at all and fourth, give up the semester and hope for a better one next year. The choice is yours. Like Kang Ma-nyo (Hwang Suk-jung) said, it's great if everyone cooperates and you can bring out the best results but if you are the one who's not helping out your team, then you need to be careful because the team head might be keeping out a special eye on you.

- Choosing Majors (1): The teaching assistant might not be so bad

Heo Yoon-sub (Lee Woo-dong) is bad tempered and sensitive. He won't leave Hong Seol alone too. But are all teaching assistants like this? There might be ones as bad as Heo Yoon-sub but there's no TA that bothers you like the drama. A teaching assistant may be quite nice as they are also students who are studying at the university and are balancing their duties as a teaching assistant and student at the same time for their scholarships. There's no reason to hate them or be uncomfortable around them. Getting close to them is one way to be smart. You may get inside information regarding school matters and job opportunities.

- Choosing Majors (2): Grade revision? Don't test your luck

Like Hong Seol your grades could be hitting rock bottom but there are also students who do their best in everything but still hit rock bottom. A's will be given to those who expect A+s and of course, you'll think about talking to the professor. If you ever think about going to your professor to ask him for mercy, you need to know that the results aren't always positive. If your professor is like Professor Kang who tells you she can't do anything about it then you're lucky. Sometimes professors downgrade students' grades from A to B just because. You get what you deserve and only talk to your teacher when you think it's unjust.
