"Big Mouth" Kim Joo-hun, "The Greatest Villain? There's Catharsis in That"

For an actor who plays a villain, the nickname 'villain' is the best compliment. It not only makes you immersed in the work and makes it richer, but also sometimes gets more attention than the main character and reveals a strong impression.

Actor Kim Joo-hun (43) did so. Kim Joo-hun, who plays Choi Do-ha, a former star prosecutor, in the MBC drama "Big Mouth", which recently ended, slowly showed his presence by casting his black heart. He has a gentle tone and manners, but he had an unknown look in his heart, and eventually became the strongest villain by revealing his narrative and identity in the second half.
"When I played Choi Do-ha, I had to endure the feelings of a person named Kim Joo-hun. There were some things that I couldn't predict because I didn't know when the script would come out, but the moment I thought, 'Why is Choi Do-ha so much?' I couldn't get into it. In particular, the free acting of my opponent, Yang Kyung-won, helped me a lot, and I also tried to draw Choi Do-ha by recalling specific images such as unpleasant fog and swamps. Although no evil behavior was specifically revealed, I focused on giving an unpleasant feeling of fear".

Among the many famous scenes, Choi Do-ha (Kim Joo-hun) visited the funeral hall of Chairman Kang (Jeon Gook-hwan), who he killed. Choi Do-ha sheds crocodile tears and reveals the devil inside. Many viewers also refer to it as the best moment to represent Choi Do-ha.

"Actually, I felt catharsis while watching the scene through the broadcast. Choi Do-ha has often shown his weight, but he intentionally threw it away. I wanted to convey an unfamiliar fear, out of the blue. Seeing the reactions from the viewers, I thought it was drawn well, so it was refreshing".

He also brought up stories about the actors he acted with. Lee Jong-suk, Lim Yoona, and the actors' passionate performances that drew attention from the casting stage were the top contributors to the high ratings of the drama along with Kim Joo-hun.

"The acting harmony was so good. Lee Jong-suk is so good at acting, and I remember that he looked completely different when I met him in the wild after the beginning and middle of the play. Lim Yoona's energy was so good, and she created exchanges of emotions. Her concentration was amazing and I could even feel her tears when I saw her acting".

Kim Joo-hun's recent sideways move is hot. In addition to "Big Mouth", he has recently appeared in ENA's "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and Netflix's original series "A Model Family" and has been active in box office hits. And the next movie is "When the Stars Gossip". He will challenge another character in a full-fledged 'space romantic comedy' between the space station and the Earth.

"I'm playing the role of an astronaut, and I'm always grateful that I can challenge new characters. That's how much I'm greedy about my work. I don't think there's a change as an actor, unless it's a role. However, I want to enjoy the change in the role and show you an interesting aspect".
