Champ broadcasts the Japanese animated film CROKET!

Champ, CJ Media's animation channel, announced on July 27 that beginning on July 31, it will be broadcasting CROKET!, a Japanese action?adventure animated film on weekdays at 4:30 PM.

CROKET! is a 52-episode animation series about a boy named Croket, with his friends and rivals called 'Bankers', who collect golden coins called "kinkas", which, when collected, are believed to make any wish come true.

Croket joins the adventure with a gang of Bankers in his hope of reviving his father, Burger. His exciting adventure unfolds as they set off to a mysterious world.

The most interesting thing about CROKET! is the fact that the main characters' names are derived from food: Croket comes from "croquette", a Western dish, while Croket's father, Burger, comes from hamburger.

Menchi, Croket's best friend and a banker (who looks like a piggy bank), is based on a Japanese pork cutlet dish, and Drops, who volunteers to become a manager, as well as Candy, Drop's Banker, are all food names.

All the other characters are also named after food, such as Abura, Fondovo, Purin, Bagu, Rizott, Worcester, or Taro.

The original comics was first published serially in 2001 on Corocoro, a Japanese monthly magazine, and eventually earned a huge following among Japanese comic book readers, culminating in the publication of a comic book awarded by Shogakugan, a major Japanese publisher, in 2003. The animated film's primetime broadcast on TV Tokyo began in April 2003, notching a remarkable 44.5% rating from its target audience groups composed of four- and twelve-year-old viewers.
