South Korea, however, has become one of the world leaders when it comes to technological innovation and communication technologies. How did Koreans come to be? The answer, as you might imagine, is rather complex. Hahm Jai-bong's new multi-volume work, "Becoming Korean", seeks to coordinate an answer for the ages. "It came as a shock that people of other countries did not know who Koreans were", writes Hahm, who is president of the Asan Institute for Policy Studies. In his five-volume work, Hahm presents an extensive exploration and explanation of the origins, politics, and developments of the Korean people over time. "I feel incredible pride at the incredible success of Korea. I feel relief for the young generation who do not have to struggle about it".
