"Korean cuisine pavilion attracts 2.3 mln visitors"

The South Korea Culture Ministry has reported that their pavilion at the 2015 Expo in Milan has attracted some incredible foot traffic this year. The Expo recently came to a close, but over a six month period the Korean cuisine pavilion attracted around 2.3 million visitors! "We will continue trying hard to publicize Korean food by merging it with culture, tourism and storytelling".

"More Retirees Open Small Restaurants"

Korea's elderly have a hard time in modern Korea. They are the generation that helped build and grow the country's economy through to the twenty-first century, but they are also experiencing a cultural shift in values. Children, for example, are no longer feeling obligated to care for their parents when they get old (they have a hard enough time surviving Korea's competitive economy as it is) and the pressures of contemporary Korea have fractured the country's traditional concept of house and home. What is perhaps not surprising to hear is that more of Korea's elderly (the country's 'baby boomers' generation) are turning to restaurants and the food industry to try and support themselves and their families in a techno-driven economy that's evolving faster than they'd like.
