"Brewer's unwavering enthusiasm for traditional spirit"

Hong Jin-ho's family brewery in PyeongChang, the Odae Seoju Brewery, specialises in "seo-ju", a homemade potato wine that contains around 13% alcohol. According to The Korea Times, the 70s and 80s were somewhat of a 'golden age' for homemade Korean alcoholic beverages. Hong, however, notes that there were no recipes for potato wine, but that his father learned how to make it from a North Korean friend. "Hanwoo burger: McDonald Korea's PyeongChang tribute"

McDonald's Korea has had a hard time managing public opinion of late, but the fast-food giant is looking to capitalise on two things Korea has going for it right now: the country's premium local beef ("hanwoo"), and the Winters Games in PyeongChang. The "hanwoo burger" was made available at the end of January to around 400 selected restaurants. "The meat, according to the company, is from cattle from the Gangwon Province city of Pyeongchang, where hanwoo farming has been rigorous". The new hanwoo burger goes for 9,000 won ($9.30).
