"Is It Still Hanbok if It's See-through?"

"Let's face it", writes Ji-eun Choi, a staff writer at Korea Exposé, "Hanbok may be beautiful to look at but cumbersome to wear". Fashion designer CNe Choi is, however, trying to change the stuffy stigma around Korea's traditional dress by making it more casual, more practical for everyday use. In this 3-minute insert, Choi talks about some of the criticisms she has received (e.g. "You're ruining the Hanbok!"), but not before sharing her creative values ("innovation, fresh, unique") and then explaining her motivation for being a change agent. "I didn't spend all that time learning just to do the same clothes".

"First look: Seoul Incheon Airport's new Terminal 2 big on high tech, art"

South Korea's largest airport, Incheon International Airport (ICN), recently opened its brand new Terminal 2, just in time for the upcoming Winter Games in PyeongChang. This stunning architectural achievement is set to wow visitors to the Land of the Morning Calm in twenty-first century style: "Beyond a soaring glass ceiling and loads of natural light, Incheon's new Terminal 2 is filled with 'smart' technology, original art, an observation deck with a café and interactive activities, and many other welcoming amenities". "In pictures: rare show of North Korean graphic design to open in London"

An art exhibition in London will be showcasing some of the DPRK's everyday graphic designs. Images from "Made in North Korea: Everyday Graphics from the DPRK" will be on display at London's House of Illustration from the 23rd of next month until mid-May and will focus on "on everyday objects, including posters, postcards and programmes, stamps, cigarette packets and sweet wrappers". "Fashion field notes from Saigon"

Fashion photographer, academic and cultural critic Michael Hurt explores the intricacies of modern Korean style in this research feature on The Korea Times. "The idea here was to look for places and people reproducing Korean styles as a way of tracking Korean pop culture influence", writes Michael. Micheal recently visited went to Ho Chi Minh City and used the opportunity to explore "identity performance" and "track lines of cultural influence". Michael is an experience K-cultural critic and includes half a dozen photographs from his research.
