"S. Korean town set to open annual ice-fishing festival on Jan. 6"

If you can handle the subzero temperatures, the town of Hwacheon (near the border with North Korea) has a wonderful ice-fishing festival taking place at the end of January next year. In the past, CNN has reportedly called the event one of the "Seven Wonders of Winter", so this is definitely not an event to miss. The festival itself has been running since 2003, and last year around 102,000 visitors braved the weather to take part.
