[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Make a Woman Cry" Episode 37

Eun-soo attempts to regain...whatever it is she thinks she lost by making a rather curious revelation to Deok-in. What Eun-soo fails to understand, as usual, is that most people think in terms beyond immediate personal gain and satisfaction. The accusations Eun-soo makes are enormously serious ones. It's difficult to imagine that Eun-soo would make up a lie so elaborate unless she had some kind of proof- but then, Eun-soo has told blatant lies before.

It's not until near the end of the episode that it's finally confirmed decisively how much of Eun-soo's story is actually true. Until that point it's mainly uncomfortableness as the characters engage in one-on-one conversations where they struggle with what to do with this information. One point is indisputable- Eun-soo can't come back to the rich family's main house. This point of blackmail on her part is a permanent standing threat, and even if the rest of the family wanted to accede to her issues, they'd practically be living at gunpoint.

At the other house things are quite a bit more pleasant. Kyeong-ah is doing well. Although I'm disappointed she no longer wears highlights in her hair. Now I'm having trouble telling the difference between her and Hyo-jeong- although in general those highlights were just plain stylish. I also feel kind of annoyed that Kyeong-ah getting a love interest is such a big plot point when she's the youngest member of the family. Why doesn't anyone try to get Kyeong-soo a love interest? He looks like he's pushing forty. Is it because his one true love in life is pizza?

...All right, so there's not actually all that much happening in that storyline save for pleasant nothings. But then that's a good thing. Even as Kyeong-cheol's been keeping a secret it hasn't been a secret that threatens to destroy his entire family. And besides, his reasons are understandable. By contrast everyone is so stressed out about Eun-soo's threat that they can't even bother to talk these issues out in the open. That's how unpleasant the situation is.

It really is a shame because Hong-ran puts it rather well. Technically speaking everything is going great for the rich family right now- and yet there's always one more terrible secret lurking around the corner that threatens to destroy everything. To be honest I'm a little disappointed that this is the final plot arc we're getting- Deok-in and Jin-woo's relationship is only really relevant to the extent that they can talk to each other. I continue to doubt that their loveline will resolve all that convincingly.
