[HanCinema's News] "Lovely Runner" Leads in Daily Ranking Pie Chart

While "Queen of Tears" has been the overwhelming favorite of South Korean netizens in its time on air, "Lovely Runner" is showing strong numbers in the Ranking Pie daily charts since its premiere on April 8th. The time slip romance earned 316,118 points in the data company's April 11th rankings, which were released on April 12th. "Queen of Tears" had 270,512 points by comparison. This was a reversal of the numbers from the previous day.

On April 10th, "Lovely Runner" had 265,670 points while "Queen of Tears" led with 276,717 points. Timing may partially explain how "Lovely Runner" was able to obtain the lead- it airs on Mondays and Tuesdays while "Queen of Tears" airs on Saturdays and Sundays. "Lovely Runner" is also still in its premiere week, and many people are talking about the new show, not necessarily in a flattering way, as it had been criticized for an apparently accidental reference to a real life celebrity suicide.

With only 2.71% ratings in its second episode, "Lovely Runner" is nowhere near worth comparing to "Queen of Tears" at 18.952% in terms of broad popularity, although it may be faring better with younger audiences more likely to engage with TV series online than via traditional ratings. "Lovely Runner" is based on a webnovel. "Queen of Tears" is at present the fifth highest rated cable television drama of all time in South Korean television.
