[HanCinema's News] Seo Yea-ji Apologizes for Gaslighting Incident

On February 27th Seo Yea-ji's agency Gold Medalist put out an official apology from the actress regarding last year's accusations of gaslighting by the actress. The apology starts out by expressing remorse over the very tardy nature of the apology, admitting it should have come out sooner. Seo Yea-ji claims to have been engaged in self-reflection based on the stories, and believes she had hurt many people with her own morally insufficient behavior. For that, she claims to truly be sorry.

Seo Yea-ji noted that as she is taking responsibility for her past behavior, she is pledging to act more carefully and maturely in the future to avoid similar such incidents. The gaslighting controversy stemmed from Internet posts regarding her ex-boyfriend Kim Jung-hyun. The accusations expanded to include allegations of bullying when Seo Yea-ji was still a student. Various crew members on projects Seo Yea-ji has worked on have also claimed that Seo Yea-ji engaged in abusive behavior with them.

The gaslighting controversy had a deleterious effect on Sea Ye-ji's career, causing production companies that had discussed casting her to walk back their consideration. Despite this damage, Seo Yea-ji re-signed with Gold Medalist on December 30th of last year and appears to be staging a comeback. Her leading role in "Eve" has been confirmed, and is expected to begin airing on South Korean television sometime in the first half of this year.
