[Hot Takes from the Noonas] Namkoong Min predicts 35% ratings for "Chief Kim"

Namkoong Min has made a bold prediction of 35% viewership ratings for his new drama, "Chief Kim", which started today. Will his dreams come true?

The actor made the ratings high projection while promoting "Chief Kim". Perhaps after hearing about the "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" cast and crew being gifted with a trip to Phuket, Namkoong Min is dreaming big for himself and the "Chief Kim" team. "If (35% viewership ratings) happens, I might be able to go on a reward vacation for the first time in my life", he is quoted as saying.

In "Chief Kim", Namkoong Min plays a corrupt accountant who becomes a middle manager at a company and ends up fighting for the rights of his fellow employees. The trailers and teasers look hilarious, and I am pleasantly surprised to see Namkoong Min playing wacky, having only seen him as an emotionless robot in "I Need Romance Season 3" and a sad second lead in "One Fine Day".

It's hard to tell whether a workplace comedy like "Chief Kim" can attract the same numbers as an action romance like "Descendants of the Sun". Workplace drama, "Incomplete Life" was a cable network hit with a ratings high of 8.24%. "Chief Kim" is on public broadcast network, KBS2, and therefore, can expect higher viewership numbers than "Incomplete Life" if it is equally successful. Here's hoping "Chief Kim" gets Namkoong Min the reward vacation he has been dreaming of.
