Jecheon International Music and Film Festival Draws Famous Directors

Many world-famous film directors from around the world will come to Korea to attend the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival scheduled from Wednesday until Aug. 14, the festival office said Monday.

Actor-turned-director Sakichi Sato will fly from Japan with his debut work as a director, "Tokyo Zombie". He has appeared in "Kill Bill", and Kyoshi Kurosawa's "Bright Future".

Yongyoot Thongkongtoon from Thailand will bring "M.A.I.D - Mission Almost Impossible Done". Thongkongtoon rose to world stardom with his first film "The Iron Ladies" in 2000, the story about a transsexual volleyball team, which set a box office record in Thailand. He has also participated in the production of "Mekhong Full Moon Party" and "My Girl". His latest work is "Metro Sexual", released in July.

The festival will present George Gittoes, who directed "Rampage", which deals with the evolution of Miami hip-hop. Gittoes, who is also a painter and photographer, expressed his plan to capture the beauty of Jecheon and the atmosphere at the festival with his camera during his stay.

Ilona Ziok and Zach Niles will also attend the festival. Ziok is the director of the documentary "The Sounds of Silence", through which he expressed his love for silent films and spot performances. Niles, who is also a famous musician working in Ghana, Africa, will introduce "The Refugess All Stars".

Beside directors, Tenzin Tsetan, the production manager of the Indian film "Milk and Opium", which portrays a fusion of traditional Indian music called Sufi, will visit the festival, along with the president of the distributor of the closing film "Parineeta", a romantic and visually appealing musical film from Bollywood.
