Kim Yunjin raises $160,000 for Hurricane Katrina victims

Actress Kim Yunjin, who is currently filming the second season of the ABC TV series "Lost", has launched a fundraising campaign to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, LA.

Kim as well as some of her "Lost" colleagues, including Evangeline Lilly and Naveen Andrews, have so far raised 160,000 dollars for hurricane victims. They will donate the raised fund to disaster-management organizations and hold a charity auction in Los Angeles on Sept. 10 (local time) to further help hurricane survivors.

Kim has recently emerged as a hallyu star in the English-speaking region as her popularity has soared for her role in "Lost" not only in the United States but in Europe and Southeast Asia as well. Aside from organizing charity events to help disaster victims, Kim also regularly participates in various functions related to ethnic Koreans in America. For instance, she hosted an event sponsored by KOREAM, the only Korean magazine in the U.S., which was held in Los Angeles on Aug. 27.

The actress finished filming her scenes for the movie "Diary of June" together with Moon Jeong-hyeok (Eric Mun) and Shin Eun-kyung last month before leaving for the United States. "Diary of June" opens in November.
