Korean Actress Kim Makes Her First Appearance on Late Show with David Letterman

The Korean actress Kim Yun-jin made her first appearance on CBS talk show "The Late Show with David Letterman" on July 11, 2006. She is the first-ever Korean actress who appeared on this popular show.

On the show, Kim talked with Mr. Letterman about ABC hit drama "Lost" and her life in Hawaii. She also mentioned about her life in Korea as a famous actress. Kim shared jokes with Mr. Letterman on the show because she was very fluent in English.

Before Kim appeared on the stage, Mr. Letterman practiced his Korean, such as "Annyoung Haseyo (Hello)" and "Kamsahamnida (Thank you)". When she finally showed up on the stage, Mr. Letterman and Ms. Kim exchanged their greetings in Korean. Letterman said "Annyoung Haseyo (Hello)" to her, and she also responded in Korean, "Annyoung Haseo, Letterman David ssi (Hello, Mr. David Letterman)".

Kim was born in Korea, but raised in the U.S. She remarked on the show, "I lived in the place where was located right across the theater your show has been held. Since then, I've always dreamed of being in your show as a guest".

David Letterman said, "You are well known to Korean people due to the ABC drama "Lost", since it has been on air in Korea, adding that Kim has already been a famous star in Korea.

Kim replied, "I worked as an actress during last seven years in Korea. Since I became famous, I had to give up one of my favorite hobbies in Korea, which is to go to a public bathhouse".

Mr. Letterman asked Kim what the public bathhouse is. Ms. Kim answered, "There are many kinds of bathhouses in Korea. I could have my silky skin due to the special massage I received at the bathhouses".

She also added, "I cannot take public bath any more due to my popularity. People say hello to me when I wear nothing on, and they look up and down my naked body. It is an embarrassing moment for me".

Letterman agreed with her, saying that he does not like that kind of situation, either", and made the audiences laugh.

When asked by Letterman about what the conclusion of the Lost is, she just replied, "I have no idea about it. I am just acting on the show".
