Korean-American director, Park Seon-min to direct Microsoft's first animated film, 'Kameo'

Korean-American director, Park Seon-min (44) has been appointed by Microsoft to directit's the company's first animated film, 'Kameo'.

As Kameo, its action-adventure game for the X-Box console, was a huge hit among young gamers last year, the company decided to make it into an animation feature and appointed Park to direct the film.

Having co-produced 'The Others' with Tom Cruise in 2001, she had also produced 'The Emperor and the Assassin' in 1999, which was invited to the competition category at the Cannes International Film Festival.

She has also been chosen as one of 'the notable 10 producers of the year' by Variety, a US-based entertainment magazine.

Debuting with the film 'Too Pure' in 1998, she worked as a member of the jury of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2003.

Immigrated to the USA when she was seven years old, Park graduated from UCLA and received her master's degree in Columbia University, majoring in Asian Studies. During the UCLA period, she went to Korea for one year as an exchange student to study Korean culture and the Korean language at Seoul National University.

After graduating from Columbia University, she began working in the film industry after she helped a Korean company's film import project. Later, she participated in the production of more than 10 films, either as producer or director.
