Korean Animation Series “Rocket Boy & Toro” to Air on BBC

The TV animation series "Rocket Boy & Toro" has become the first Korean animation series to air on Britain's BBC.
Imagestone, the producer of the animation, said Thursday that BBC will air the 52-episode animation series starting from April 1, 2008.

Imagestone will have a 51 percent stake in the project, with other foreign investors taking the rest.

With Imagestone in charge of planning and producing, Jimmy Hiebert, the writer of the mega-hit stop-motion animated children's program "Bob the Builder", will write the script, British production company Cosgrove Hall will take charge of post production, and Village Production will be in charge of music.

The animation will be sold to other countries, except the U.S., through distributor Indigo Film and Television, which has a distribution network covering 100 countries around the world.

Imagestone CEO Lee Jang-hwan said, "Village Production's executive producer Mark Roland told me that he was fascinated by the characters of 'Rocket Boy & Toro' and that the market for the animation is huge". Lee expected the export of the animation to serve as a springboard for the company to find its way into the global market.

The animated comic adventure targets children aged six to eight and features events happening between "Rocket boy", the fastest delivery boy in the universe, and the super computer "Dr. Square", which has ambitions to conquer the universe.
