Lee Young-ae is finally breaking her 11 years of absence and coming back with "Saimdang: Light's Diary".

Group Eight claims she's ready to roll and the drama should be out early next year.

It took her a while to decide to star in "Saimdang" which is a reinterpretation of Saimdang from the Joseon times. She was a genius artist and passionate lover. Lee Young-ae takes on two roles; a college professor who specializes in Korea Art History and Saimdang. She will go back and forth the present and the future.

The drama producer claims, "I would be lying if I said I didn't think of Lee Young-ae when I made this drama. Her old-fashioned and elegant image suits Saimdang well. I am excited to see what kind of Saimdang Lee Young-ae would make. As soon as news about Lee Young-ae got out, I have been getting calls and inquiries from all over Japan and China as well. We are considering broadcasting in China at the same time".

"Saimdang" is written by Park Eun-ryeong from "The Woman Living Across the Street", "A Second Proposal" and "Go! Mrs. Go!".

Lee Young-ae hasn't been in a drama since the 2004 "Dae Jang Geum". She last starred in the 2005 movie "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance" directed by Park Chan-wook.

Meanwhile, "Saimdang: Light's Diary" starts filming in June.
