The deceased passed away on April 9th, 2017, after battling pancreatic cancer. She was 66.

Kim Young-ae underwent pancreatic cancer surgery in 2012 and was declared completely cured, before appearing in movies such as "The Attorney", "Cart", and "Proof of Innocence".

Her pancreatic cancer recurred while appearing in KBS2's weekend drama "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop" but she worked hard to film even though her health deteriorated, and eventually passed away.

Due to the rapidly deteriorating condition, she was unable to appear in the extended episode, but until the promised episode, she showed fighting spirit to and from the hospital.

Meanwhile, Kim Young-ae has appeared in films such as "Pandora", "Ae-ja", "The Attorney", "Cart", dramas "Jang Hee-bin", "The Moon Embracing the Sun", "Doctors", "Kill Me, Heal Me", and "The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop" since her debut as a third-term MBC public recruitment in 1971.
