Movie “My Scary Girl” tops box office for three weeks

The movie "My Scary Girl", which was produced with a relatively small budget of 900 million won, has become the latest success among Korean films.

The movie has remained on the top spot of the box office for three straight weeks. It was released on April 6.

According to data counted by the comprehensive computerized cinema ticket network, the movie drew 232,570 movie watchers over the weekend.

The animation "Ice Age 2" came in second with 178,980 spectators, followed by Bruce Willis' "16 Blocks" and "The Inside Man" starring Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster.

"Hoodwinked! The True Story of Red Riding Hood" and another Korean movie, "My Captain Mr. Underground", took fifth and sixth place, respectively, and "Dreamer" landed in seventh.

Korean movies have claimed the top spot of the box office for 19 consecutive weeks until the third week of April. But only two Korean movies were actually in the top 10, with Hollywood films filling the second to sixth place positions.
