The 10th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival

Kicking off Thursday, the festival, which specializes in unusual and bizarre movies, is now screening 251 films from 35 countries at various venues, including Puchon City Hall, Puchon Civil Auditorium and Puchon CGV multiplex theaters in Puchon city, Kyonggi Province. Interesting programs include "Korean Director's Cut", which collects four local movies and screens their original versions as they had to cut many parts due to strong censorship by the government. A workshop program on special visual effects in films will be offered from today to Sunday by Richard Tailor from Weta-Workshop, the New Zealand-based special visual effect studio famous for blockbuster films such as the "Lord of the Ring" series, "King Kong" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe". Based on the acclaimed play "Yi", the film took three historical figures from Choson Kingdom _ tyrant King Yonsan, his concubine Chang Nok-su and court jester Kong-gil _ and tells a fictionalized account of their relationship with the addition of fictional characters.
