PAPE POPO ventures into an animated film for broadcasting

PAPE POPO (by Sim Seung-hyeon), a cartoon essay more than 2.1 million copies of which have been sold in Korea since its first publication in 2002, will be made into an animated film for broadcasting.

"We have received funding support from the Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency (KIPA), an affiliate of the Ministry of Information and Communications, for the translation of the essay into an animated film, PAPE POPO Moving-Toon, with a total production budget of 520 million Korean won", Olive Nine Co., Ltd. announced on March 31.

The company had previously been chosen as one of the companies that excelled in the 2006 Next-generation, State-of-the-art Content Promotional Project and DMB Content Production Support Category hosted by KIPA.

Portraying the love story of PAPE, a male character, and POPO, a female character, PAPE POPO has became very popular not only in Korea but in other countries such as China and Japan, and in particular, Taiwan, where the cartoon became a bestseller.

A total of thirteen 30-minute episodes of PAPE POPO Moving-Toon will be broadcast in various media, including DMB and Wi-bro.
